Prior to your Arrival

At the Hospital

Our Patients’ Assistance Team in Pakistan will coordinate for your hospital registration, appointment time, and date. They will escort and guide you during your clinic visit and hospitalization.

The pre-transplant evaluation includes assessing eligibility for transplant – both donor and recipient.

The investigation involves blood tests, chest X-rays, ECG, ultrasound, CT scan, Cardiac scan, lung functions, and finally if required a liver biopsy. There are also several important meetings with members of the transplant team (Surgeon, Physician, Cardiologist, Psychiatric anesthetist, etc) who help to determine the suitability for living donation and to ensure that you can donate liver safely or otherwise.

Legal Counseling and preparation of legal documents for approval from HOTA – Human transplant legal authority.

The liver transplant services have established immunosuppression drug monitoring facilities in collaboration with the Shifa pathology department. All patients in our post-liver transplant follow-up regularly participate in this monitoring process.

Patient and donor care during hospitalization in Surgical ICU and transplant unit.

Our team of liver transplant surgeons and hepatologists is supported by the pathology and interventional radiology department to participate in post-transplant care. Discharge from the hospital is done after reviewing by the transplant team. Diagnostic testing and drug monitoring are done on follow-up visits.

Patient Testimonial

Muhammad Imran Ali (Dubai UAE)
Date of Service: Feb 2020
Liver Transplant Patient (Liver Transplant team)

Before going to Shifa for my treatment, I did research on a lot of hospitals all across the world including Pakistan. I contacted Dubai Office and was convinced by their team to visit Shifa for my initial appointment and work up and got assistance throughout including all insurance matters. The whole team at Shifa and especially Liver Transplant team was extremely kind and helpful and made this decision less stressful for me. Though liver transplant is a complicated procedure but both me and my donor were taken care of professionally and Alhamdulillah we both recovered quickly. By the grace of Almighty Allah I am enjoying a much better life now and cannot thank enough to Allah SWT and every member of SIH Team.
